What do you want to be when you grow up?

Ever since we were little, we’ve always been asked, what do you want to be when you grow up?

My answer was simple. A singer/veterinarian/artist.

Then once we hit Junior year of High School, the question becomes what college do you want to go to?

For me, it was without question: Washington State University. It was the only college I applied to!

Then shortly after you get accepted to college, the question finally becomes what do you want to do? I have no doubt that every student has been asked this question. And for some, they’ve known their whole lives! My dream to become a singer slowly died once I realized how hard the famous life is. But I still keep up with it in my spare time. Veterinarian school was out of the question when I couldn’t dissect a fetal pig in high school. And I never really saw a future for myself in the art world. Although it is still one of my passions.

So when people ask what I want to do in my life, I simply answer, I don’t know! All I do know is I want to be happy.

I spent the first three years of college FREAKING OUT that my future was so foggy. But going into my last year I’ve learned to love where I’m at and let the future run its course.

So what do I want to be when I grow up? I want to be a loving friend, wife, mother, a great listener, I want to be adventurous, I want to be a traveler, and I want to be a collector of old cameras. I want to be wise, caring, someone people wish they could be, a wine drinker, a beach comber, a skier, a teacher, an antique dishware enthusiast, and a photographer…Does that answer your question?

Do not let your fears choose your destiny.

Go Cougs.
